These grant programs fund science, environment, and technology-related educational programming, activities, and curriculum development for K-12 educators, schools, and school-related programs. This organization works to improve North Carolina's environmental resources through education and environmental stewardship. Awards grants to NC K-12 teachers to develop environmental education programs that aim to create future environmental leaders. Application form required. Giving for the improvement of science, mathematics, and technology in pre K-12 education in NC. Application form required. Applicants should submit a detailed description of their project and amount of funding requested.

NC Science Teacher Association Innovative Curriculum Support Grant

Giving limited to NC. Funding to promote excellence in science education. 
Association members may apply for funds for supplies, materials, equipment, printing, travel, and other expenses related to a curriculum project involving students in a unique way. Two grants of up to $1,000 will be awarded each year.

Annie's Grants for School Gardens

Annie’s offers $500 or $1,500 grants to K-12 school gardens that connect children directly to real food. These funds can be used to buy gardening tools, seeds or other needed supplies.

Wellcome Fund Student Science Enrichment Program

This fund’s goal is to enable primary and secondary students to participate in creative, hands-on scientific activities and pursue inquiry-based exploration in North Carolina.  Activities should occur outside of the usual school environment, such as after school, on weekends, or during vacation periods.

2014 Muhammad Ali Center Peace Garden Grant

The Muhammad Ali Center Peace Garden Grant is designed to teach lessons of peace and hunger awareness through garden activities. Peace gardens focus on using edible plants from different cultures providing youth with the opportunity to learn about the world.To be eligible, participants must plan to garden with at least 15 children between the ages of 3 and 18. Preference will be given to schools within the United States with student body eligible for 50% or more reduced or free lunches.

Walmart Local Giving Program

Walmart provides grants for educational and community activities in its areas of operation. Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have identified four core areas of giving: Hunger Relief & Healthy Eating, Sustainability, Women's Economic Empowerment or Career Opportunity. NC Beautiful Windows of Opportunity Grants

NC Beautiful provides K-12 teachers across North Carolina with resources to develop educational programs that enhance and support the Common Core & Essential Standards. Grants of up to $1000 per teacher or classroom are awarded to certified K-12 teachers in the state of North Carolina; Project leaders must be full time teachers at the applicant school.

Fruit Tree 101 Grants

This program provides trees and resources to schoolyards to improve the environment and provide a source of healthy snacks to students. Average donations include 12-20 trees, environmental curriculum, and orchard installment design work. Applications must be filled out by school principal.

Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation Small Grants Program

The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation administers a small grants program in North Carolina and Virginia. Grants in amounts up to $500 will be awarded upon successful application to organizations whose programs and projects support the mission of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Application steps: 1.) call a foundation staff member to discuss the project. 2.) Submit a 1-2 page written proposal. 3.) Mail in a completed proposal.

Toshiba America Foundation Grants

Offers grants up to $5,000 for science and math projects in K-12 education. Grants fund the projects, ideas and materials teachers of need to innovate in their math and science classrooms. TAF is interested in funding projects designed by teachers or small teams of teachers for use in their own schools.

Captain Planet Foundation Grant

Provides grants of up to $2,500 to school and community groups to support hands-on environmental projects. Focus includes Conservation, Consumer Education, Ecology, Environmental Health, Habitats/Ecosystems, Pollution, Recycling/Waste Management, Team-building/Problem-solving, Trees/Forests, and Water. Lowe’s Charitable & Educational Foundation Grants

Provides funds focusing on K-12 education and community improvement. The Foundation provides funding only to 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organizations and public agencies in communities where Lowe’s operates stores and distribution centers. Grants generally range from $5,000 to $25,000.

SPIE provides support for optics and photonics related education outreach projects. Applications are judged on their potential to impact students and increase optics awareness. STEM activities should have an optics or photonics component.

The Toyota USA Foundation supports innovative K-12 programs and builds partnerships with organizations dedicated to improving the teaching and learning of mathematics, science and environmental science.
