Department of Environment and Natural Resources
The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) awards financial assistance and tax credits in the areas of Parks and Recreation, Land and Forestry, Environmental Education, Energy, Coast and Beach, Rural, Waste, and Water.
 
Department of Health and Human Services
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is the largest agency in state government, responsible for ensuring the health, safety and well being of all North Carolinians.
 
Department of Public Instruction
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is the agency charged with implementing the State's public school laws and the State Board of Education's policies and procedures governing pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public education. 
 
Division of Forest Resources (Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program)
Awards matching funds to encourage citizen involvement in creating and sustaining urban and community forestry programs. Grant funds may be awarded to any unit of local or state government, public educational institutions, approved non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations and other tax-exempt organizations.
 
Division of Water Infrastructure Grants and Loans
The Division of Water Infrastructure Grants & Loans Section administers several funding programs: the federally funded Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF), the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF), Community Development Block Grant-Infrastructure, State Wastewater & Drinking Water Reserve Programs, Merger/Regionalization Feasibility Grant Program, and the Asset Inventory and Assessment Grant Program. 
 
Division of Water Resources
This program provides cost-share grants and technical assistance to local governments throughout the State. Applications for grants are accepted for seven purposes: General Navigation, Recreational Navigation, Water Management, Stream Restoration, Beach Protection, Land Acquisition and Facility Development for Water-Based Recreation, and Aquatic Weed Control.
 
Governor's Crime Commission
The Governor's Crime Commission Grants Management Section administers federal block grants for new criminal justice and juvenile justice programs in North Carolina.
 
Health and Wellness Trust Fund (HWTF)
HWTF invests in programs and partnerships to address access, prevention, education and research that help all North Carolinians achieve better health.
 
NC Beautiful
NC Beautiful provides environmental education and beautification opportunities for North Carolinians. Grant programs support K-12 teachers, undergraduate students and graduate students.
 
North Carolina Arts Council (NCAC)
NCAC provides funds for nonprofit organizations to hire accomplished artists to present, produce their work, or to conduct arts programs. Colleges and universities may receive grants for programs that are community-based or generate area-wide arts involvement.
 
North Carolina Biotechnology Center (NCBC)
The Center offers grants and business loans for biotechnology-related research, education, and technology development.
 
North Carolina Humanities Council
The Humanities Council welcomes project proposals that support free, public programs addressing fundamental questions about who we are and how we live in the world we share. The Humanities Council encourages programs that explore North Carolina's rich diversity by examining the culture and traditions of specific groups as well as programs that foster cross-cultural understanding.
 
Office of State Archaeology (OSA)
The OSA administers federal, state and private grants for archaeological surveys, excavations and research. Staff archaeologists provide technical and administrative assistance for pass-through grants from the National Park Service and direct appropriations from the General Assembly.
 
Parks and Recreation Trust Fund
Provides grants to increase the public's access to the state's beaches, to build and renovate facilities in the state parks. and to buy land for new and existing parks. 
 
State Energy Office
The State Energy Office is dedicated to ensuring a sustainable energy future for the citizens of North Carolina. The Office works to increase the use of renewable energy and alternative fuels and energy efficiency throughout the state.
