These internal grant opportunities are available to faculty from the College of Arts and Sciences:
CAS Student and Faculty Excellence (SAFE) Fund
The College of Arts and Sciences Student and Faculty Excellence (SAFE) Fund provides resources that can be used to transform the undergraduate and graduate experience and support faculty teaching, research, and engagement. Typical past awards for faculty range from $100 to $1,000 and for students range from $100 to $500. These are university funds and all use of the money must comply with university spending guidelines and follow standard university policies and procedures. Note that the SAFE Funds are intended to be supplementary and it is expected that you pursue other sources of funding before applying.
Each year, the College of Arts and Sciences provides two (2) funding cycles. Applications for the fall semester are due no later than 11:59pm on the first Monday of October. Applications for the Spring semester are due no later than 11:59pm on the second Monday of February.
CAS Summer Grant/Research Proposal Development Grant
Information for Applicants
The College of Arts and Sciences provides $5,000 grants to untenured, tenure-track faculty to work on scholarly research and creative projects and external funding proposals that will enhance the transformational experience of App State students. These funds must be used between May and August. The purpose of this grant is to allow untenured faculty to focus on scholarship during the summer. To receive this grant, the applicant must have no teaching duties during one of the five week summer sessions or one of the graduate sessions. These funds are exclusively for salary and cannot be used for equipment, supplies, travel, etc. These are state salary funds and are subject to all pertinent taxes. Faculty are eligible to receive a grant once every three years. All tenured, tenure-track faculty are encouraged to apply.
Applications are due the second Tuesday in September.
